The Coach

Name: Eugene Fleury
Skinny: Prior to being the head coach, Eugene Fluery had been on staff for many of the recent successful years. Fleury had also been involved in the youth program where he developed players before they got to high school. Last season, he took over a very young team and to his credit, had them fighting to the very end despite going ofer. Fleury is part of the NWR fabric and there is no doubt he has many successful years ahead of him.
2016 Record: 0-10

The Players

Franchise Player: Senior defensive tackle Ryan Durling (6-2 270) is a specimen of an athlete. He’s one of those guys that opposing offensive guards turn to their tackle and says, “Uh, I think I am going to need some help here.” Durling is a force to be reckoned with and will be the focus of every team NWR plays this year.
Hottest Selling Jersey: It might actually be too late to get your #13 Tyler Thatcher jersey because I heard they sold out. But it’s worth getting it on back order because the 5-5, 130-pound senior is a dynamo that everyone in Patriot Nation will be rooting for.
All Unruly Watch: A guy who’s poised for postseason honors is senior Joseph Toribio (5-11 190). This guy plays receiver, runningback and anywhere on the defense. This kind of dynamic player will give headaches to opposing coaches.
Under the Radar: A player that can turn a 5-yard catch into a 60-yard touchdown is senior WR Dylan Bragatto (5-5, 150). He’s also an excellent defender who seems to read the offensive play before it happens.
Benching the Weight Room: Two guys that are so big and strong that no team on this schedule will be able to do much about are senior linemen Joseph Sprague (5-10, 290) and Luke Golick (5-4, 290). This two wreak havoc on both sides of the ball.
Throwback: Senior G/LB James Barton (5-9 160) and senior C/DL Alex Hicks (5-10, 200) are both quick footed players that catch opponents off guard with their speed. Their fast blocks work really well against bigger players than them.

Prediction

Navigating this schedule will be tricky but if North Warren can get a minimum of four wins at the 8-game cutoff that should be enough to punch a ticket to the postseason party. I love that they face teams that reside on the eastern side of the state (Verona, Belvidere and Cedar Grove) on their home turf late in the season. For those opponents, taking the bus ride to North Warren high school is like driving to the middle of Pennsylvania. That creates a big home field advantage for the Pats. If the Patriots do get to the second season, they’ll likely not face anyone tougher than that is on their regular season schedule so they should be totally battle tested. You should be feeling good about yourself if you are part of Patriot Nation.
